About Dr. Andrew M. Payne
Every child deserves someone who believes in them.
That belief has guided my career as an educator, author, and lifelong advocate for children who learn differently. Whether I'm teaching in a classroom, writing books for families, or developing resources through Payne Learning Institute, my goal is the same: to help children recognize their strengths and equip the adults who support them.
I hold a doctorate in education and have served as a special education teacher, adjunct college instructor, and law enforcement officer. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on education, student behavior, literacy, and school safety. Throughout my career, I have worked with students whose learning differences and behavioral challenges are often misunderstood, and I have seen firsthand how the right support can transform a child's future.
My first children's book, When Life Gives You meLons: Our Dyslexia Journey, was inspired by my family's own experience with dyslexia. It celebrates perseverance, resilience, and the belief that every child can succeed when given the opportunity to learn in the way that works best for them.
As the founder of Payne Learning Institute, I am committed to creating books, educational resources, professional development, and training that inspire students, empower educators, and strengthen families. My hope is that every resource we create reminds children and people of all ages that learning differently is not a weakness—it is simply a different path to success.
When I'm not writing or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, serving my community, and continuing my work to improve education and school safety.
Thank you for visiting. I hope the resources you find here encourage, inspire, and make a positive difference in the lives of people and the children you serve.
